Bio

Miss Clara lives and works in Bordeaux, where she was born in June 1965.
After studying at the School of Fine Arts in Bordeaux, she worked for 9 years as a graphic artist in a photography studio.
A few years ago, Miss Clara switched to illustrating books while also working for the press, and her collages are currently on show at the Arrêt sur Images gallery in Bordeaux.
Miss Clara's delicate, feminine and dreamlike visual world is fascinating - full of fantasy and invention. Her characters are above all three-dimensional creatures.
"I start with sketches, then I build a little wire skeleton, and I stick bands of silk or cigarette paper over this roughly articulated skeleton. Its hair is also made of paper. If it's a modeled character, I paint it and dress it … with paper. I then photograph my characters and rework them on Photoshop."
One can see a certain likeness between Miss Clara and her frail little ladies. She keeps dreaming like a child, and loves fairy tales, Japanese poetry, Italian Renaissance painting, 18th century decorative arts, and tea…
