Kevin Antoine passionately explores the art of images, whether drawn or filmed. Graduating in 2D animation and illustration in 2011, he paradoxically spent nearly ten years working as a director, primarily in advertising and the music industry. In 2014, he founded his own studio, Ibou Studio, where he and his team developed production, motion design, 2D/3D animation, branding, and art direction projects until 2018. The studio then collaborated with clients such as Adidas, Godiva, FIFA, and American Eagle.
In 2019, he decided to actively return to drawing, in order to combine his artistic practice with his work as a director. Today, his work ranges from research and development for audiovisual projects, to branding and visual campaigns, as well as the creation of original works.
His workflow is deliberately minimalist: he always begins with ink, directly on paper, without a preliminary sketch or digital support. Depending on the project's purpose, he then digitizes his drawings.
This approach was born out of frustration: after years in the digital world, he realized he had lost direct contact with drawing, the art that had always inspired him. In front of a screen and a keyboard, he no longer felt like he was actually drawing, but rather tinkering.
Over time, he became an expert in live drawing, a practice that consists of drawing directly in ink, without sketching or pencil, in a concentration approaching meditation. Each line is definitive, each mistake becomes an integral part of the work, forging a raw, spontaneous, and authentic style. With experience, his technique is refined, and his development occurs both graphically and technically.
At the same time, he shares his expertise as a consultant at a high school of animation, where he supports students at all stages of the production of their films (writing, storyboard, character design, artistic direction).
